Bharati Hospital’s Rheumatology Department, a leading Rheumatology Hospital in Pune, provides expert care for autoimmune and inflammatory disorders like arthritis, lupus, and vasculitis. As one of Western India’s few DM training centers, it offers musculoskeletal ultrasound, nailfold capillaroscopy, immunological diagnostics, and biologic therapies. With cutting-edge facilities, the team ensures early detection, precise diagnosis, and personalized treatment.

Overview

Established as an independent department in 2020, the Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology has evolved into a center of excellence for the management of systemic autoimmune diseases. It became the first in Maharashtra to offer a DM program in the specialty in 2022.

Located on the ground floor of the Super Specialty Wing, the department is led by a team of expert clinicians delivering outpatient, inpatient, and critical care services. Patients benefit from evidence-based treatments, supported by diagnostic tools like musculoskeletal ultrasound, nailfold capillaroscopy, and ANA/autoantibody testing.
By promoting early diagnosis and compliance to therapy, the department improves patient outcomes while minimizing long-term disability. Community outreach, awareness campaigns, and academic initiatives ensure holistic impact across patient and practitioner communities.

FAQs

What is Rheumatology?

Rheumatology deals with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions that affect joints, muscles, skin, and organs—like arthritis, lupus, and vasculitis.

How is it different from orthopaedics?

Rheumatologists treat autoimmune joint problems medically, without surgery. Orthopaedics focuses on trauma and degenerative conditions often requiring operations.

Is treatment costly?

Most early treatments are affordable. Delays in diagnosis often lead to complications that make treatment more expensive.

Are side effects common with anti-rheumatic drugs?

No. With regular monitoring, side effects are rare. Most patients tolerate medications well.

Do you offer advanced therapies?

Yes, including biologics, capillaroscopy, joint injections, and autoimmune screening under one roof.
